LOW BACK PAIN? DON'T PANIC! Pain Science Education

DON'T PANIC! Low back pain is the number one cause of disability worldwide. It negatively affects every aspect of a person's life. Lower back pain relief can be found in many ways with low back pain exercises you can perform at home. Sciatica is another common low back pain complaint that can be safely managed. Movement is medicine. Motion is lotion. Hurt doesn't equal harm. That said - sometimes the issue is in the tissue! Even then however, lower back pain and any chronic pain can cause disability, impact our job, relationships, mental health, economic status, and attitudes and beliefs. Low back pain is a biopsychosocial phenomenon. There is no root cause of pain. All pain has many influencing factors.

A person can have tissue damage and no pain. Someone else could have pain without tissue damage. Many people simply have an overactive pain alarm system due to contextual factors and/or central sensitization or peripheral sensitization. Chronic pain and fibromyalgia resemble emotions in the brain, more than they resemble actual sensory processing. Pain is weird. This video breaks down common myths about low back pain and talks about how when it comes to lower back pain or any chronic pain - DON'T PANIC.

Whether you have a disc herniation, disc bulge, disc protrusion, radiculopathy, sciatica, disc degeneration, bad posture, a flat back, an anterior pelvic tilt, or a sway back, DON'T PANIC! Low back pain rarely has a serious underlying cause, and can safely be managed at home or with your healthcare team.
